Single-concave just ahead of the mounting point offers lift and float - surfboard shapers have known this for two generations. We don’t have anything like this in skis because it’s a pain to make and hard to maintain. We spend our time pursuing our passion for skiing on planks that are easy to make and simple to maintain. I want something better.
A little dumpster diving at a buddy’s house yielded this sweet piece of discarded white oak flooring. I’ll be using it in a Poplar/Birch/Oak core for an all mountain daily driver.

Kids are getting first dibs on this year’s run. Been gluing up some cores with the kiddos and almost ready to run them through the planer. Stay tuned.

Profiling or shaping cores on a router sled takes forever, makes a big mess and is hard to control ... so I’ve innovated an old idea to make it more versatile and useful. It’s a custom sliding profiling table that can adjust to any length core. It slides through the router for multiple passes and that’s it. Less messy. Easier. Much cooler.
